In progress logo design for Layerboom, a green cloud computing company. The themes provided were energy, efficiency, honeycombs and bees. This is the first time I was asked to do a mascot for a company, it was a lot of fun. Layerboom ended up choosing the honeycomb logo and the bee with the green leaf. I will be working on that little guy for the website. True story, it’s challenging to make a tough looking bee. Trying too hard results in steroid bees with teeth. No, I didn’t draw steroid bee, but he did give me nightmares.
Thanks Ross for teaching me how to do clean outlines on logos, it’s really easy just add a stroke..

May’s topic for Drawing Challenge was, An unconventional take on a fairytale character. I chose Rapunzel.
It did not turn out exactly as I imagined. I had an envisioned a marionette princess being controlled by a hungry prince-eating beast. Unfortunately, I kept changing my mind and ended up mashing 2 ideas together – which I think weakened my original concept. I must remember to stick to the plan. I still really like it thought. I’m also starting to enjoy using Painter. I’d like to point you to my first Painter drawing.
Media: Painter, with some Photoshop touch ups. Photoshop is still my security blanket.

I’m back to working on Card Adventures. Last Fall this was a project that was on high on my priority list, but it got shelved in favor of Gnomes Homes and 2nd Syndicate. My work for Gnomes Homes and 2nd Syndicate is done (for now), so Card Adventures is back on top. Card Adventures is in early stages of development. I just recently completed the design document for the online portal. It’s all confidential thought so I can’t show it here!
TCG Prototype

The top right corner shows 3 different prototypes each with it’s own game mechanic. To get into the mood of designing a TCG I have played many many (many!) hours of Magic Cards, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Free Realms. In fact, I think I’m a little bit addicted.. Anyways blogging about game development is not very exciting, as I can’t actually show anything. But here are some concept art.
